You never hear about cat abuse, but believe me it exists. I story I read recently happened back in Florida in August of 2007. A cat was abandoned at a shelter and was so badly matted with feces and cat litter. The cat had to be shaved to get all the matted fur off. This poor cat had a collar that was embedded in its neck.

Why and how can someone do this to a cat? It is deplorable to think about harming a poor cat this way. Having three cats of my own, makes me sad to think that I could not save this cat from a horrible life. I wish I knew it was that did this to this poor little creature.

Not to long ago there was an article in a local paper about a cat that had been set on fire by two 16-year-old boys. They were given a fine paid by the parents and that is all. Now if they would have done this to a person, they would be in jail. The cat was alive, but had to be put down. Where do people who do these horrendous crimes end up? They end up as criminals. They kill, steal, lie and other things.

Some people might not call it abuse to have a house full of cats, but it is unsanitary and unhealthy for the people and the cats. The abuse comes when the people that take these cats into their homes do not have the vaccinations, health check ups or proper diets as well as neutering and spaying. If a person thinks they are saving the cats from being wild and living in the elements of the weather, they might just be wrong if they are not giving the proper care to the cats.
