A cat survived nineteen days with a jar stuck on its head. The feral cat somehow stuck its head in the jar and became stuck. Someone found the cat alive after nineteen days and oiled the head and jar to get it off the cat. The cat was weak, but began to drink and eat. Today the cat is a house cat for someone.

Funny Cat Stories From Lexie The Cat

March 12th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · No Comments

Lexie is a very helpful kitty. She loves to play with things even though she is 11 years old. Her latest stunt was maddening, but it was funny. A brand new roll of weed eater string was available for her to make a tangled mess in a very short time. The roll was only left alone for a matter of ten minutes and she had unraveled and tangled the entire roll. She gladly posed for a picture afterwards or maybe it was because she could not figure out how to get out. If it is true that a picture says a thousand words, then this picture says it all.

Dealing With A Pets Death

March 11th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · No Comments

Adults and children take the death of a pet very hard. Some people even have funerals for their beloved cats. A story I once heard about was a woman who had an aging cat that was in poor health and not expected to live much longer. She went to great extents to give your companion the best funeral she could. She had money since it was just her and the cat.

How The Show For Cats Is Organized

March 10th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · No Comments

There are four categories for a cat show. There is the household pet class, open class, neuter class and the kitten class. The household class is for cats that are of unknown heritage or unregistered parents. The cats are judged for uniqueness. Kittens must be under ten moths old and altered cats are judged by breed standards. The open class is for cat breeds that are presented at a cat show.

Cats that are checked into the show must have a vet check by the onsite vet. You need to present vaccination papers to the vet who checks for any signs of illness or health problems.

How To Prepare Your Cat For A Show

March 9th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · No Comments

If you have a cat that you want to show, you need to start early working with them. They will need to become accustom to spending time in a cage and being around a lot of people and other cats. You should also feed your cat a nutritional diet so the coat is maintained. Grooming is also essential if you are going to show your cat. If you start early enough a cat can become comfortable with showing and all the unwanted attention.

Some Interesting Cat Facts

March 8th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · No Comments

These are some interesting facts about cats. Some you may know about and some you may not. My favorite is a “cat lover”.

As you pet a cat, you can relieve stress that you may be feeling.

Cats have more bones than humans do. The cat has two hundred and thirty bones while a human has only two hundred and six.

Cats have better hearing than a dog or a human.

In the dark, cats can see better than humans by six times.

Pregnant cats carry their litter for nine weeks.

Find Out Some Answers To Your Cat Questions

March 7th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · 14 Comments

Why Does The Cat Urinate Outside The Litter Box When He Is In It Already?

This is a question with a simple answer. The litter box size may be too small. If the cat litter box has a top detachable lip on it, the cat may think he is going inside the box, but he is really urinating outside. Some cats need more room to go to the bathroom than what some cats do. If the lip causes the littler box to appear smaller, remove that lip and give the cat some extra room. If this does not work, you need to get a larger litter box.

What Is Hyperesthesia Syndrome

March 6th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · No Comments

Hyperesthesia syndrome is also known as rolling skin. It is a condition where the skin twitches. This usually happens around the base of the tail. The cat will excessively groom himself or herself, vocalize, jerk and run around as if something or someone is chasing them. In some cases, the cat will cause severe skin irritation or hair loss due to self-mutilation.

The breeds of cats that are affected by hyperesthesia syndrome are Abyssinians, Himalayans, Burmese and Siamese. Vets have had success treating this health problem with Phenobarbital or fluoxetine. Controlling the health problem means trying different drugs. The cat will never outgrow this problem, but with proper care, they can live a happy life.

How To Tell Between A Feral Cat And A Stray

March 5th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · No Comments

A feral cat will run when confronted by a human. A stray cat on the other hand will become vocal towards the human. In some cases, you can get close enough to touch the stray cat, but this will not be the case with a feral cat. If the cat continues to come around when you are outside, chances are it is a stray or an escapee. The feral cat will stay away from areas where humans are found.

A Mother Cat Had Her Kittens Under Our Porch

March 4th, 2008 by Pamela Gardapee · No Comments

Many feral cats will seek out a place that is safe to hide her kittens from predators. If you find yourself in this situation, you can leave her there or call the local Humane Society to try to trap the mother. They can then catch the kittens. If you leave her there, chances are as soon as the kittens are old enough, she will leave them to fend for themselves. They will wander around your yard for some time before they venture out to other areas.
