Cats show love in different ways and with different gestures. From the day they are born, cats show love by licking each other. This type of grooming shows love for their siblings and can be carried unto their human partner. Licking is not only a way for the cat to stay clean, it is a sure sign that you are loved.

Purring is another way that cats show their love and contentment. From the time the cat is born, they hear their mothers purr as a way to find her body for nursing. When a cat is relaxed and comfortable, they will purr for delight. Purring is their way of telling you they love you and want to be with you.

Your cat may rub on you when you walk by them or return home from being away. They will do this to other cats as well as dogs if they love them as well. They cat is actually scenting you. They are claiming you as theirs. The scenting it not smelled by you, but by the cat. Kneeling is another way the cat shows their love. If they have claws it can hurt a little, but cats that do not have claws will kneed as well. It is an instinct they have since birth to make the mothers milk flow.
