Deworming Cats And Kittens

March 18th, 2008 · No Comments

Most people, who bring a new kitten home, do not know about all the treatments necessary for a kitten. There are the first vaccinations, health check and a stool check. The stool sample will allow the vet to see if the kitten or cat has worms, which is common in Kittens. Adult cats can contact worms from infected kittens.

A kitten should be checked before being placed with other cats in the home or at least use a different litter box. If the kitten is found to have worms, the vet will prescribe a dewormer that will rid the cat of the worms. It is not healthy for a kitten to go untreated for worms.

March 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Many people wonder if their cats can understand what they say. The thing is, cats can understand what is being said to them. Cats can learn the word no, eat, treat, shake, lay down and stay. Many cats can understand what full sentences such as give me a kiss, get out of the plant and go back to bed where you belong.

It is amazing just what cats really can understand. You can teach cats to do many different things including talking, tricks and obeying commands. Cats have a fascinating life and learning new things is just part of it. Cats understand when you are upset and they know when you are happy.

Feeding Your Cats To Stay Healthy

March 16th, 2008 · No Comments

There are different cat’s foods on the market that can make it difficult for people to choose the right food. I guess it depends on you as well as how many times you want to feed your cat a day. I use dry cat food for all three cats. They have been eating Purina Cat Chow since they have come into my home. They are all healthy and they sure do love their food (so do the two dogs).

Are There Really Pet Cemeteries?

March 15th, 2008 · No Comments

I had the chance to see a pet cemetery one day on a drive out in the country. The fascinating thing about the pet cemetery was that it resembled the pet cemetery that was pictured in the movie “Pet Cemetery.” There was a distinct connection to the movie as far as looks, eeriness and markers for each grave.

Getting out of the car to look at the markers was fascinating. There were markers for every pet in the cemetery. Where the pats actually came from was unknown, but they all had names. There were about forty pets in the cemetery with markers. They were spread out in the cemetery with know special order. It looked as if people would just choose an area and that is were they buried there pet.

Flea Season is Around The Corner For the Cold Weather States

March 14th, 2008 · No Comments

If you are in the colder states, you are going to start seeing some nicer weather and along with that nice weather comes fleas. Protecting your cats and even dogs from contacting fleas is so important to their health as well as your peace of mind. It is time to head to the vet or pet store for some flea repellent.

Once you have fleas on the cat is to late to start thinking about flea control, you have to start before the cats or dogs get fleas. I like Frontline for my cats and dogs. It is good for one month and costs around $12 a tube. The tube is good for one month. It is applied between the shoulder blades of the animal and works its way throughout the body.

Cat News You Never Hear About

March 13th, 2008 · No Comments

A cat survived nineteen days with a jar stuck on its head. The feral cat somehow stuck its head in the jar and became stuck. Someone found the cat alive after nineteen days and oiled the head and jar to get it off the cat. The cat was weak, but began to drink and eat. Today the cat is a house cat for someone.

Funny Cat Stories From Lexie The Cat

March 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Lexie is a very helpful kitty. She loves to play with things even though she is 11 years old. Her latest stunt was maddening, but it was funny. A brand new roll of weed eater string was available for her to make a tangled mess in a very short time. The roll was only left alone for a matter of ten minutes and she had unraveled and tangled the entire roll. She gladly posed for a picture afterwards or maybe it was because she could not figure out how to get out. If it is true that a picture says a thousand words, then this picture says it all.

Dealing With A Pets Death

March 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Adults and children take the death of a pet very hard. Some people even have funerals for their beloved cats. A story I once heard about was a woman who had an aging cat that was in poor health and not expected to live much longer. She went to great extents to give your companion the best funeral she could. She had money since it was just her and the cat.

How The Show For Cats Is Organized

March 10th, 2008 · No Comments

There are four categories for a cat show. There is the household pet class, open class, neuter class and the kitten class. The household class is for cats that are of unknown heritage or unregistered parents. The cats are judged for uniqueness. Kittens must be under ten moths old and altered cats are judged by breed standards. The open class is for cat breeds that are presented at a cat show.

Cats that are checked into the show must have a vet check by the onsite vet. You need to present vaccination papers to the vet who checks for any signs of illness or health problems.

How To Prepare Your Cat For A Show

March 9th, 2008 · No Comments

If you have a cat that you want to show, you need to start early working with them. They will need to become accustom to spending time in a cage and being around a lot of people and other cats. You should also feed your cat a nutritional diet so the coat is maintained. Grooming is also essential if you are going to show your cat. If you start early enough a cat can become comfortable with showing and all the unwanted attention.
