Looking for a pet is not an easy task. There are so many considerations that you have to think about before you can adopt a pet and possibly bring home with you. It is very important to first check your own motive why you really wanted to own a pet. Is it just for fun and consider your pet as collectible item? Or is it really to give home to these animal friends and consider them a family member? In planning to have a pet the question that you have to answer with yes must be the second one. Animals like humans need love and care. If they are solitary and cannot find it on their fellow animals, human can give them. In return, these animal friends give humans an unexplainable and unfathomable happiness.

Cats are one of the fittest and safest animals to be made as pet. Aside from their being cute and lovable, they can also protect a territory where they belong. Cats are meek only to those people and animals that they know and care for them. Adopting a cat is not expensive since it does not require other extra caring expense except the expense for food and medical care.

The very first thing you have to check on you and your family before adopting a cat as pet is your health. Most people are allergic to cat’s furs letting them sneeze and later can give them a runny nose. Surely you will not like sneezing every time you want to have a bonding with your pet cat. Aside from that, you must also be ready for the cat’s habits which you may not like. If in case you think that your pet can hinder you from doing the things that you are doing, then it is better to choose not to own one.

“What kind of cat should I get?” must be the second question you must ask yourself. If you are referring to the breed of the cat that you want to adopt, you may find so many breeds. Here are three considerations that you must think about in answering the question, “What kind of cat should I get?”

• Male or female – it is a must that you decide to choose what gender you want your dream pet cat to be. Actually, the gender does not affect the personality of a cat. This means that there is no difference if you choose male cat from a female cat or vice versa. There are people who even loved to have neutered cats because neutered cats become more grateful, loyal and loving. Both sexes have the capacity to protect their territory and therefore on this aspect the gender of the cats is not an issue. However, if you wanted to limit your cat pet and have no plans to make them multiply, it is advisable that you choose a male cat over a female cat. A male cat doe not bring with him his spouse and let his owner took care of the kittens but female cats do.

• Bred cats or not – there is as big difference between a purebred cat than those who are not. One is that, the owner must give an extra care and adjust to the likes of the purebred cat. Most purebred cats are very sensitive to food and surrounding, therefore they need extra care. In contrary, those domestic cats with no breed origin are easy to adopt and care for. They adapt to the surrounding easily and are not very sensitive to the foods they eat.

• Kitten or adult one – it is important that you choose how old you want a cat pet should be. Kittens are very lively and used to play around often. If you have in your house breakable items, kittens are not ideal for you. Older cats tend to stay on one side and sleep more often causing no trouble at all unless any unusual will happen.

Think about that consideration and allow it to help you decide whether you still want to bring home a cat as pet or not. Always remember that cats must not be regarded as plainly animals but as friends and family members.
