Bathing cats is no fun for anyone. Cats are not usually fond of water. If you have a cat that plays in the water dish or the toilet bowl, chances are that giving a bath may be easier than you thought. Cats do not normally need bathing
because they keep themselves very clean. If you do need to bath your cat, it is important that you use the right shampoo that will dry out their skin.
You need to get all the shampoo out of their fur so they do not get it in their mouths when they are drying themselves or cleaning themselves after you bathe them. If you have a cat that needs a bath that does not like water, bathing is going to result in screaming, hissing and clawing. Depending on your relationship with the cat, they may need reassurance with soothing words to take a bath.
Use a kitchen sink and not a large bathtub, which will scare the cat more. The water needs to be warm but not to hot. Wet the cat with the water from the sink keeping it away from the eyes and ears. Lather the cat up and then rinse. In the sink, you will have one side for shampooing and the other side can be for rinsing. Never run the water in the same side of the sink where the cat is located.
This should go well if you use a little patience. If you do not need to give your cat a bath, it is better to let them cleans themselves rather than torment them.
